How to change a product photo background online (solid, custom colour, image)
Remove image backgrounds and swap background colors with Koutuxia. Export transparent PNGs or red, blue, or white solid backgrounds in seconds — free to use.
The same product needs a white main image, a brand-colour promo tile and a scene for the banner. Shoot once and swap the background as often as you like. Koutuxia cuts the product out as a transparent PNG, and on export you pick the background: a solid colour, a custom colour, or an image you upload.
How to swap it
Step 1 · Cut the product out
Drop the photo in and the AI removes the background. Fix edges with the manual brush and Smart Restore if needed.
Step 2 · Pick a background
Advanced Export offers four backgrounds: transparent, white, a custom colour and an image. Type a hex value for a brand colour, or upload a scene and the product sits on top of it.
Step 3 · Shadow and size
Turn on Shadow so the product does not float on the new background, and enter the width and height the platform wants. Export as PNG, JPG or WEBP.
Step 4 · Batch it
Queue more photos, then click the pack button: every image gets the same background and lands in one ZIP. Up to 50 per batch.
Where this fits
- ·White for the main image, brand colour for promo tiles, one shoot
- ·Place the product on a desk or scene photo you shot yourself
- ·Match a marketplace's light grey or cream background
- ·AI-generated scenes (Pro)
Questions
The edge still shows a ring of the old background colour
Semi-transparent edge pixels carry the old background colour by nature. Koutuxia re-estimates the foreground colour on export, so most images come out without a fringe. If one remains, erase it with the manual brush or rerun with Max Quality.
Can I change the background behind glass or clear packaging?
Semi-transparent products are the hardest case. Koutuxia has a dedicated pass for glass-like images that keeps the body and stem of a glass. If the subject disappears entirely, the site falls back to the standard tier on its own; if that still fails, paint it back with Smart Restore.
Uploaded background image versus AI-generated background?
An uploaded image is composited locally, free, and the photo never leaves the browser. AI-generated backgrounds are a Pro feature: the image goes to the cloud to generate the scene, and the page says so.
Is it free?
Free cutouts run locally in your browser with no image limit or sign-up. Upgrade only when you need Magic Eraser, photo unblur, cloud precision, 2× upscaling, or AI-generated backgrounds.
