Photos go blurry for four reasons: missed focus, camera shake, a tiny original, or repeated compression by chat apps. Classic sharpening only hardens edges; it cannot bring back detail that is gone. Open Unblur & Restore and drop in the photo. Your browser measures sharpness, resolution, and compression artifacts locally and suggests standard or deep restore and an upscale factor — nothing is uploaded or charged at this step.

Step 2 · Pick a method

Standard (CodeFormer): faces rebuilt separately, background enhanced; fine for everyday photos. Deep (Topaz Low Resolution V2): built for heavy blur and low resolution; 6 runs per 30 days. For portraits, tune Fidelity — choose Faithful if likeness matters most.

Step 3 · Compare with the loupe, then download

Use the before/after slider for the overall look, then the detail loupe at 100% / 200% to inspect the same region before and after. If you ran both methods, switch between them and download the one you prefer as full-size PNG or a smaller JPG.

FAQ

Are the restored faces real?

They are plausible reconstructions. The model infers facial detail from what is left; in most cases it looks like the person, but the blurrier the source, the more is inferred. For memorial or ID photos choose Faithful and verify with the loupe.

Is it free?

Local quick sharpen is free, unlimited, and never uploads — good for slightly soft photos. AI restore needs Pro: standard restore uses the general cloud quota, deep restore is limited to 6 runs per 30 days.

How large is the output?

Images up to 1000px on the long edge are upscaled 4× by default, larger ones 2×; the exact output size is whatever the model returns (standard restore can come out slightly larger than the nominal factor). Cloud processing resizes the input to a 2048px long edge.

Is my photo stored?

AI restore temporarily uploads the original to private storage and sends it to Replicate; the input is deleted when the job ends and the result link is short-lived, so download promptly. The local check and local sharpen never upload anything.
